Work Streams

Public Policy Engagement

This involves engaging on broad public policy issues to sensitize and educate governments, legislatures, regulators and others regarding the importance of an appropriate enabling legal, regulatory and policy environment for insurance transactions.

Activities focus on two elements:

  • Engagement with the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) and national/regional regulators, Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii), the World Bank, policy makers and others to align the needs of regulators and industry in addressing insurance needs of sovereign, commercial and personal insureds.
  • Establishment of a Chair in a leading academic institution to pilot and drive public policy and insurance regulation research.

Project Specific Transaction Support

Assisting with pilot initiatives of the IDF, specifically in the context of the Sovereign & Humanitarian Solutions (SHS) and the Investment Working Groups.

Institutional Legal support

Providing legal advice and guidance to IDF in developing terms of references and protocols to guide the operations of the institution, both internally amongst members and in its engagement with broader stakeholders
