How do we move beyond siloed thinking to build truly resilient infrastructure?
This will be the focus of the ICONHIC 2026 conference on natural hazards and infrastructure, on 29 June – 2 July, in Chania, Greece. Ruth Lux will join as a key speaker, bringing a cross-sector lens to resilience that connects climate risk, infrastructure, finance and communities.
As a member of the Insurance Development Forum Operating Committee and Co-Chair of the Sovereign & Humanitarian Solutions (SHS) Working Group, Ruth’s perspective reflects a core truth: insurance is a central tool to deliver resilient infrastructure, but resilience cannot be delivered by any one sector alone. It must be built through collaboration – across governments, the private sector, and international organisations – aligning tools, expertise and systems before crises hit.
ICONHIC’s curated sessions are designed to drive this collaboration. Convening global experts to tackle the interconnected challenges shaping our world; from climate adaptation and natural hazards to digital innovation and community-centred decision-making.
Ruth’s participation highlights the critical role of insurance as part of the broader disaster risk finance toolkit — helping ensure greater financial preparedness, faster response, and stronger outcomes when shocks occur. More details on the plenary coming soon.
