It is with great sadness that the IDF acknowledges the passing of Denis Kessler, Chair of SCOR and IDF SteerCo Member

A member of the IDF SteerCo, Denis was known for his strong leadership, creative vision, high standards, and passion for the future of the industry, in particular the role insurance plays in helping build resilience in the face of climate change. 

Denis shared in our vision to create a world of greater resilience and protection through insurance, and during his tenure as CEO and Chairman of SCOR, he consistently supported and advocated for the work and this vision of the IDF.

A well-known and much loved industry figure, Denis was renowned throughout the global re/insurance sector. He held a great passion for his work, and shared his visions and values with the many organisations and bodies he was involved in. 

Michel Liès, Chair of IDF Steering Committee, said, “It was an honour to have known Denis. He was an industry icon and a passionate advocate for building resilience. His resolve in shaping the industry’s strategic direction was evident in his long-standing commitment as one of the founder members of the IDF.  His work and personal commitment were instrumental in shaping the institution’s role in delivering its programmes and providing a robust industry response to tackling the climate change agenda.

We will all miss his intellectual rigour, energy and support enormously. On behalf of the IDF, its members and working groups, we send our condolences to his family, friends and the SCOR team during this difficult period.”
