How Do We Build Infrastructure That Can Withstand The Risks Of The Future?

As climate and disaster risks continue to intensify, resilience can no longer be considered in isolation. Building infrastructure that is prepared for tomorrow’s challenges requires collaboration across sectors, disciplines and institutions.

That’s why the Insurance Development Forum is looking forward to ICONHIC 2026, taking place in Chania, Greece, where leading experts from around the world will come together to explore the interconnected challenges shaping resilient infrastructure, communities and economies.

Representing the insurance sector, IDF Change Agent Ruth Lux will deliver the opening remarks for the conference before joining fellow experts on the panel to explore the role of resilience in addressing future risks. As a member of the IDF Operating Committee and Co-Chair of the Sovereign & Humanitarian Solutions Working Group, Ruth will bring a unique perspective at the intersection of insurance, disaster risk finance and resilience, highlighting the critical role insurance can play in strengthening financial preparedness, supporting faster recovery and helping to create the conditions for long-term resilience.

A key message underpinning the discussion is that no single organisation, sector or discipline can build resilience alone. Meaningful progress depends on collaboration between governments, the private sector, development institutions and local communities, working together to anticipate risks before they become crises.

At the Insurance Development Forum, this commitment to partnership is central to our mission of building future-ready nations.

We look forward to joining the conversation.
