Tuga Alaskary is UNDP’s Technical Specialist for Risk Financing, responsible for leading and guiding UNDP’s work on sovereign and sub-sovereign risk financing. She provides representation to country offices and through them programme countries to develop and deliver technical risk finance solutions. Later in the year, she will also take over leadership of the IRFF work within the Arab States. Tuga has over 12 years of professional experience in climate and disaster risk financing, previously working for the InsuResilience Global Partnership, Asian Development Bank, World Food Programme, and African Risk Capacity. A British-Iraqi dual national, Tuga holds a Masters of Science in Development Studies, a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy and Economics. She is fluent in Arabic and English.
