Ruth Lux is Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa Public Sector Solutions Practice at Guy Carpenter, the world-leading reinsurance broker. The Practice was established in 2014 as a response to the growing imperative for Governments and public entities to identify and transfer risk to the balance sheet of the private (re)insurance market.
She is a subject matter expert in geopolitical risks and has an exceptional understanding of the public sector and works with public sector clients at national, state and local level across these regions. Her focus is on understanding the particular insurance and reinsurance needs of public sector organisations and their private sector partners, and identifying existing and new insurance solutions which will enable Guy Carpenter to deliver the analysis, advice and data needed to optimise public sector decision-taking. She focuses on advancing Guy Carpenter’s engagement with clients and markets to identify opportunities and deliver solutions that help them drive profitable growth. Ruth has been involved in many public sector initiatives across the International region.
Previous to joining Guy Carpenter she headed up political and terrorism risk analytics at JLT Specialty and before that she founded and headed up a political risk consultancy at the think-tank the Henry Jackson Society, providing risk analytics and risk transfer strategies to companies across all sectors and also worked closely with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Home Office.
Ruth is based in London. She is a graduate of the Universities of London School of Economics, Bristol and Trinity Laban, holding a Master’s of Science in International Relations and degreed in French and Spanish and Contemporary Dance. She is fluent in French and Spanish. Outside work, Ruth is a keen golfer, she enjoys the challenge of running marathons and road-cycling and is an avid theatre-goer.
