IDF Closed Meetings

The COP26 Private Finance Agenda was launched in 2020 to help private sector finance actors fulfil their potential in supporting the world’s economic transition to a net-zero world. COP26 (co-hosted by the UK and Italy) is a critical opportunity to take actions that secure a net zero trajectory in line with the UN Paris Agreement and Sustainable Agenda 2030. Through the COP 26 Finance agenda the objective is for every professional financial decision to take climate change and climate risk into account.

On 10thNovember 2020 the COP 26 Finance strategy for Building a Private Finance system for Net Zero was issued. It identified a number of priorities for private finance for COP 26 and a number of deliverables specific to the insurance industry. The IDF as a public-private partnership, is aligned with the COP26 Private Finance strategy given the direct relevance to the aim of the IDF.

With a shared priority of making the most of a delayed COP26 and the year ahead as one of meaningful, scalable and ambitious action, the COP 26 Finance team and the IDF will be hosting a roundtable on the 3rdof December 2020, with the specific goal of mobilising the insurance industry towards an ambitious adaptation and resilience agenda and towards greater action.
