Rachael Barza has strong expertise in managing risk and uncertainty. Her experience covers the regulatory viewpoint in designing markets with policies to promote stability and good incentives for market agents, the commercial viewpoint in developing strategies to face market risks, and the humanitarian viewpoint in targeting limited resources for the greatest impact in changeable situations. She has advised national and international agencies on preparing forecasts and assessing potential policies, assisted major corporations in setting contractual terms and valuing assets in the presence of uncertainty, and supported adaptable interventions to provide aid and build resilience to conflict and natural disasters.
She is also interested developing policy and financial instruments that promote preserving and restoring natural systems to guard against the effects of natural disasters and climate change.
Prior to joining Vivid Economics, Rachael worked as Senior Economist at Save the Children UK, and at The Brattle Group as an economic consultant. Rachael holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, and a BA in Economics and Mathematics, summa cum laude, from Barnard College.
