Ana Marie Dizon is the National FOREWARN Coordinator for the Philippines of START Network. She has worked in the humanitarian sector for over nine years and in the development field for over 20 years. She has worked in the humanitarian context in the Philippines and Liberia, responding to the Ebola disease outbreak, conflict-based displacements, earthquake, and super Typhoon Haiyan; she has worked in various capacities as humanitarian performance specialist, M&E specialist, technical project specialist, partnership coordinator and as manager, focusing on localisation in humanitarian action working with local CSOs. As a development professional her NGO work covered a wide range of issues from poverty, housing rights and urban displacement, gender and development, youth engagement, national and international volunteerism, micro-finance, local health governance, to impact evaluation of development projects. She has done work in various capacities with international organisations such as VSO, RTI, UNICEF, UNFPA, Tearfund, Action Aid, NASSA-Caritas, Christian Aid and CARE.

Ana is responsible for START Network’s coordination and advocacy work in relation to inter-agency partnership on anticipatory action, supporting members in-country to develop their AA capacity to analyse and anticipate various hazards, and managing the development of its Disaster Risk Financing system for the Philippines. She also works with national experts, risks analysts and universities in establishing a national Forecast-based Warning, Analysis and Response Network (FOREWARN).

Ana has a master’s degree in International Crisis Management, and advanced studies in humanitarian action, and health in emergencies.
