Amadou is a Project Management Professional and Finance graduate with extensive experience on coordinating complex project and programmes involving a wide range of stakeholders in the development and humanitarian field. He has accumulated over ten years of experience working on projects and programmes with international NGOs such as SOS Children Villages, Catholic Relief Services, GVEP International, My Agro, and leading programmes funded by donors such as the BMZ, KFW, World Bank, FCDO, AFD, USAID, Sida, NoRAD, …
Amadou joined the Start Network in 2018 as the ARC Replica Coordinator for Senegal in charge of managing in-country activities in partnership with the Government of Senegal, the African Risk Capacity, and Start Network members in Senegal (Oxfam, Plan, Catholic Relief Services, Action Against Hunger, World Vision and Save the Children).

Since January 2021, Amadou is the Disaster Risk Financing Regional Coordinator (Africa) for the Start Network based in Senegal and has been supporting the expansion and consolidation of Stat Network Disaster Risk Financing initiatives in Africa which includes the ARC Replica initiative in Senegal, Zimbabwe, and Somalia, the Forecast based Financing programmes in Zimbabwe, Kenya, and Madagascar as well as the development of a HUB of local and national organisations in DRC.

Coming from a family of agropastoralist he has naturally been attracted to rural development which later led him into the humanitarian field wanting to bring a local perspective and contribute in improving the life of people most at risk of being impacted by disasters and shocks by encouraging the promotion of local voices and valuing endogenous knowledge in addressing global challenges.

Amadou has a Master of Science in Finance and Post-graduate degree in project management. He speaks fluent English, French, Pulaar, Wolof and is conversational in Arabic and Kiswahili.
